Bahcelievler, a large residential district of Istanbul, on the European side of the city. The word “Bahcelievler” divided into two words, “Bahçeli” means a house with a garden, while, “evler” means houses. This distinguishes it from many areas of Istanbul. Bahcelievler is characterized by its green nature, with trees on both sides of its streets, small gardens, large shopping malls, cinemas, and many cafes, in addition to luxurious buildings.

Bahcelievler has branches of four universities apart from numerous hospitals, public and private schools. Metroport shopping center – located on the E5 Highway, at the center of the district, and Omur Patisserie/Café – situated on the E5 highway at the entryway of Bahcelievler, are considered some of the major attractions in the district. Bahcelievler holds many educational buildings and important companies within its borders. Economical character of Bahcelievler is also very essential. First industrial estate and first Coca-Cola factory in Turkey were established in this district.
Urban transportation is very well organized in Bahcelievler district. It is accessible via the E-5 highway which runs from Istanbul Airport to the Asian side of the city, covers 5% of Istanbul’s land area. Bahcelievler is the northern neighbour of Bakirkoy, with a similar area. People can travel to Bahçelievler by bus, minibus, share taxi (aka dolmuş), or car through E5 highway as well as by municipal train. Metro, Metrobus and buses provide easy and quick access to the central part of Istanbul without wasting time. The duration of travel depends on the time of the day, but has been shortened significantly since the Metrobus have come up. As an example, transit time from prominent hubs in Eminönü and Mecidiyeköy has been reduced to 35 and 15 minutes, respectively, while it takes less than an hour to reach Sogutlucesme Metrobus hub in Kadıkoy which is located in the Asian side of the city of Istanbul. The best way to travel to the Asian part of the city is by sea-bus, available near the municipality of Bakırkoy, linking Kadıkoy and Bostancı to the European side of Istanbul.
