Bagcilar is a district located behind Bahçelievler on the European side of the city. Bagcilar district was founded by combining the four regions (Mahmutbey, Güneşli, Kirazlı and Bağcılar) connected to Bakırköy in 1992. It was originally connected to Bakirkoy district, but in 1992 it became a district by itself. It is of 22 km² and located between the two major ring roads, the E-5 and the TEM Motorway. Bagcilar’s location next to the E-80 highway has prompted people to live in it, either by renting or buying. Especially since Bagcilar is only half an hour away from Istanbul’s city center, as well as the metro, which greatly shortens the transportation time.
