About Taksim

Taksim is connected to the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. It is one of the most touristic places in the city. It is known with its square. Taksim Square takes its name from the depot built in the Ottoman period to distribute water to the districts in that region. The structure made to distribute / divide the water in the tank is called maxem. As a result, the name comes from Taksim Maxem.

After Taksim was turned into a square, the Republic Monument and its surroundings were used for ceremonies and commemoration days. The nostalgic tram, which is one of the symbols of this region, is still in service today and travels the region in the direction of Istiklal Street.

Taksim is very active both day and night. It is an indispensable region for culture, arts, entertainment and shopping. There are many shops for shopping. Besides, you can find hundreds of restaurants and cafes in different concepts. It includes many exhibitions, theater and cinema halls in terms of culture and arts. When you come to Taksim, Aya Triada Church, Gezi Park, Çiçek Passage and Saint Antuan Church are among the must-see places.

From Taksim, which has a very strategic location in terms of transportation, you can easily go to many places by bus and metro lines.
