About Ezine
Ezine is a district of Çanakkale. The name of the district started when the Turkish Beys who came to this region built the Ulu Mosque to perform the Friday prayer. It was used for the regional name “Azine“, which means Friday in Persian. Over time, the name changed from Azine to Ezine.
Canakkale city center is 42 km away. Ezine is located in a flat plain region. Ezine has many ponds, streams and streamlet. Hence, this ensures efficient products in the agricultural lands in the region. With its relaxing nature, the tree species frequently seen in this district are olive, oak, juniper and blackberry. In Ezine, summers are hot and dry, and winters are warm and rainy.
Ezine district boundaries do not have a coast, but Geyikli, Ezine, Aktaş and Tavaklı beaches, which are close to Ezine, give people calmness, peace and happiness.
Ezine is one of the most consumed types of cheese in Turkey, it took its name from this region. For touristic trips, Neandria Castle and Alexandria Troas Ancient City are places to be seen in this region.
