About Bakirkoy
Bakırköy is a neighbourhood, municipality and district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. The quarter is densely populated, has a residential character and is inhabited by an upper middle class population. The municipality of Bakırköy is much larger than the quarter and includes several other neighbourhoods, such as Yeşilköy, Yeşilyurt, Ataköy. Bakırköy lies between the D100 highway and the coast of the Sea of Marmara. It is a long stretch of coastline on the Sea of Marmara, which undoubtedly contributes to the moderation of its climate and natural beauty. Bakırköy is an important shopping and commercial center. Bakırköy is a destination for those wishing to spend quality time in its unique facilities. It has not only shopping malls to offer but also other facilities to make it a famous part of the city. Veliefendi Hippodrome, being Turkey’s largest and also oldest racecourse, is one of the most important facilities of this district. If you like horse race, Bakırköy is your place to visit. World Trade Center, Ataköy Athletics Arena are other important buildings in Bakırköy. The Florya region has a magnificent view of the Sea of Marmara, with the Florya Park. The park along the Sea of Marmara has a spectacular view, especially at sunset. There are buses going to all other central parts of Istanbul and more and dolmush line between Taksim and Bakırköy districts.
